Purpose:
In order to continue the development of world class Commercial Supply and Trading organization, Phillips 66 Origination must consistently be a leading player with third party producers and consumers in the hydrocarbons and renewable energy markets, as well as a critical player in logistics to develop, maintain and optimize physical flows for third party trading and Phillips 66 supply needs.
The Originator Hydrocarbons, APAC plays a vital role in developing complex and longer-term opportunities throughout the APAC Region for Phillips 66 global hydrocarbons including crude business. These transactions will be marketed to third parties and can involve a combination of physical, risk management and financial elements. This is a Singapore-based role with travel needed to collaborate with Phillips 66 teams in Calgary, Houston and London. The incumbent will be an active member and participant of the crude team based in Singapore and interact with the crude teams in Canada, London and Houston, and will be responsible for liaising with the Global Commercial Origination team on cross-commodity opportunities.
Key accountabilities: Develops and leads negotiation strategies to deliver commercial and operational agreements and complex transactions, creating optimization and cross-commodity sales opportunities where appropriate, in the APAC crude markets, with particular focus in China. Drives business development (prospecting, originating and executing), working with and in support of Crude traders, by identifying, appraising, optimising, developing and closing transactions that add flexibility and optionality to the portfolio Builds a robust network of opportunities that enables commercial delivery Provides deal assurance by ensuring transaction structures, execution options, negotiating and relationship management tactics, risks, rewards and resources are considered, defined and evaluated Maintains full understanding of how each new business opportunity impacts trading exposures associated with our portfolio Builds and maintains strategic relationships with internal teams and external parties including customers, government bodies and regulators Uses deep market knowledge and relationships to drive intel of market events and activities
Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills: Bachelor’s degree with 5 or more years of experience in hydrocarbons origination or trading Strong background in delivery of strategic commercial deals in oil and gas – with evidence of origination of physical flows, logistics optimization and structured finance Strong relationships and external networks, particularly with upstream producers in the core oil and gas markets Ability to work autonomously, while building relationships across business partners to ensure active deal management and sponsorship Demonstrates strong analytical and problem solving skills, and high level of financial understanding Strong negotiation capabilities, evidenced by prior commercial deals/transactions in the industry Ability to work with, and develop relationships with, third party financiers (banks, PE, credit funds) Excellent written and oral communication skills Track record of commercial delivery and experience Ability to lead and motivate multi-disciplinary teams in a respectful manner Desire and ability to work closely with trading desks, and cross business and cross region/location teams, as well as drive collaborative opportunities where relevant Ability to engage at all levels of an organization and represent Phillips 66 externally Required to travel regularly, up to 50% of time
