Under the direction of the Senior Counselor with latitude for making independent decisions, assists in the supervision of assigned activities involved in establishing a total therapeutic environment as designated by senior staff members and "psychological consultants".
Responsibilities
Counsels, observes and evaluates residents assigned to his/her primary care:
Supervises a case load of client substance abusers, records activities and progress of clients in charts in a timely manner
Participates in case management and staff meetings, creates treatment plans with clients, liaison with Probation Officer as applicable regarding client progress
Performs one to one counseling, supervises and/or participates in group encounters, supervises and/or participates in all official functions of the program including open houses, parents group, community group meetings, public speaking engagements, and other functions as may be assigned by senior staff
Participates in resident marathons, structures and supervises morning meeting, seminars, house meetings and discussion groups
Performs floor coverage as deemed necessary by senior staff, conducts seminars for clients in our care.
Minimum Qualifications
High School completion or equivalency is required. Must posses and maintain a valid California driver's license.
Knowledge of therapeutic communities preferable by actual living experience, with sufficient training to have demonstrated competence in the field of clinical therapy. Attendance and completion in workshops to enhance clinical and administrative skills. Working knowledge and ability to successfully treat clients by applications of therapeutic techniques; experience for a period of time sufficient to demonstrate clinical competence, is required.
Must be drug and alcohol free for a minimum of two (2) years
