Basic Qualifications:
Must have work experience in instrumentation and controls systems such as electronic and pneumatic transmitters and controllers, valve positioners, or radiation monitoring equipment.
Core Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in specialized field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Typically possesses eight years experience in the field performing complex analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations to address issues that lack precedent and require advanced technical knowledge.
- Demonstrated experience effectively managing, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance or construction activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) Work Control and Maintenance processes.
- Advanced knowledge in the instrumentation and control field. Recognized internally and externally as an expert in the instrumentation and control field.
- Demonstrated experience implementing or leading the implementation of specialized technical projects.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating with management to obtain resources and finalize implementation schedules.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including building and leading cross-function teams and interfacing with internal and external organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and be self motivated to take the initiative in coordinating a team of individuals to complete a project under challenging circumstances.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to communicate technical information to all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to validate and accurately analyze information and make sound decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, and management to successfully meet shifting needs.

- ANSI N18.1-1971 Requirements: Shall be competent in technical matters related to plant safety and other engineering and scientific support aspects.

Preferences:
Knowledge of nuclear plant operation, plant systems, and components.

Typical Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the coordination of the work of the M&CS Instruments and Controls (I&C) Department within the Work
- Management process, including preparation, integration and execution of on-line and outage work.
- As the primary liaison with Work Control responsible for the coordination of department's work including preparation, integration and execution of online and outage work.
- Ensure that planning, staffing, communications and coordination of the department's work is successfully integrated into the Work Management process such that the work is executed on time and within schedule and budget.
- Participate in all schedule, selection/scoping, coordination, preparation, review and work process meetings. Validate work is appropriately scheduled for online or outage execution.
- Determine manpower resources and qualification requirements to support scheduled work. Support identification and procurement of materials required to support the department#s work. Identify and assist with coordination of vendor activities.
- Drive the resolution of any unanticipated obstacles identified during the work planning, schedule preparation, coordination, review, and execution.
- Support the implementation of department activities by identifying and overseeing walk downs, and conducting reviews for accuracy, constructability, maintainability, and testing requirements. Coordinate with line supervision to ensure adequate work group preparation to execute work schedules.
- Develop contingency plans and/or perform risk assessments where required of scheduled work activities.
- Actively monitor progress on schedules during execution and identify deficiencies, analyze alternatives, and recommend solutions to schedule conflicts.
- Support and participate in work management improvement efforts to improve online and outage work execution for SONGS, including support to work week critiques and documenting issues with the Corrective Action Program.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Maintenance Coordinators and perform other duties as assigned
